i work about two blocks away from reeves and yet some people here in my office have never been there (or even heard of it - the horrors!). so, i decided to remedy the situation and headed up the block to pick up some cupcakes. i came back with three different flavors - red velvet with the slightest smidgen of cream cheese icing, german chocolate (cup)cake and yellow cake w/ chocolate icing and sprinkles! and they were all so good (so good, so good)!
the cupcakes are just how i like them. the cake is very moist and flavorful! and the icing isn't over the top w/ sweetness - it actually has some flavor. and they don't pile the icing on like some bakeries do (although i'm convinced those places are just trying to cover up their mediocre cake).
i should have taken some pictures, but let's be honest those cupcakes didn't have a chance. we stood over my desk and devoured them. and everyone who walked by was sorry they hadn't been invited to our impromptu cupcake party.
but, there is some good news. according to the peeps at reeves they are looking to move elsewhere in the city within 90 days, but they don't know where. let's hope they find some good space soon!
