photo hunt...in the wapo?

susie and i arrive at the metro this morning and it's 7:38 (is that the new 7:41? which really is the new 7:44.) we see a train approaching through the windows and make a executive decision to "run" for it. we made the train and settled into some seats (we've now decided to only get on the very last car - that we we are pretty much guaranteed to get some seats). i pulled out the paper and we did our usual morning section break up. i read the front page first and sus gets the rest - and then we gradually swap it all around. i can only imagine what our set up looks like to everyone else on the train.

as we're reading the paper we always make it a point to comment on the blatantly absurd stories. like this morning when we noticed the high school graduation picture where the guy is wearing a tux and a baseball hat. a little inappropriate, no? and then there's the ongoing saga about trans fat. my honest opinion on the subject is that if trans fat is so bad for you then how can everything be made without it? and then there was the article about greg oden. and how he loves school and is so mature and how his mother always had to carry his birth certificate around to prove he was the age he said he was. and then there was this line: "at 2, oden wore a size-6 shoe." does anyone else find this completely ludicrous? i think we're going to need some photographic evidence on this one since as susie so kindly pointed on this morning, "size 6? that's like a woman's size 8 - which is what size my shoe is NOW."

we finished our morning read of the paper and got to the special thursday section - home/fairfax extra. and as i opened the section we noticed there was a mini life magazine inside. with brooke shields on the cover! we were intrigued. susie did a quick flip through the magazine and when she stopped on a picture of martha stewart i almost started to yell at her. but then i saw there was a (seemingly) identical picture of martha on the opposing page. wait, it couldn't be - could it? it was photo hunt, the magazine edition. so clearly we did the only thing we could do - we started hitting the pages when we saw the differences. after we got a bunch of those we flipped the page and discovered there was yet another "photo hunt" on the next page. i sure hope this life magazine shows up every thursday. it's like the sports illustrated on campus - remember that?

happy thursday everyone!
