mid-week holidays are the best!

i generally hate holidays. but, july 4th isn't so bad since you get to lay around and do nothing (but eat) all day! now if we could just get people to stop wearing all the tacky red, white and blue ensembles...

the best part about the fourth this year is that it fell on a wednesday. that means the work week was all screwed up - in a great way. for some reason assessment offices found the need to make deadlines all throughout this week (granted it is the beginning of the month, but still) so i'm keeping busy here at work. but, luckily not too busy in that i was able to sneak out at 12:30 on tuesday (and then go to the pool and read the kite runner in it's entirety).

and today i managed to invite myself to lunch w/ my parents downtown (definitely a perk of working right by my mom). and then i might have to frolic out of work a little early to get in on some happy hour action. i'm just hoping the storms from yesterday have passed so i might get to enjoy a few drinks outside.

and of course tomorrow is the day i've been waiting for all summer. it's the pat mcgee show at wolftrap! so while those of you who actually work on fridays are stuck in the office i will opening a beer and waiting for "the running of the blankets." if you're going to the concert come find us - we'll be on the lawn - smack dab in the middle. and if you're not going you are seriously missing out.
