happy birthday to me!

thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday yesterday. it was a good one. no, it was a great one!

the weather couldn't have been more perfect - especially for a day on the river. tubing is probably the best summer activity ever. especially when you have a cooler full of goodies floating downstream with you. and of course we brought a waterproof camera so there will be pictures posted at some point.

and after a day of complete relaxation what better to do then frolic into dc for a night on the town?! so after a little bit of jenga (and some cocktails and sake bombs) we headed over to the metro. and that's when hilarity began to ensue. everyone thought they saw lauren coming down the stairs and started yelling at her to hurry up. maybe the girl's name was lauren too because she was responding to their yells, but it most definitely was not my sister. and let's just say now brigid knows that when the chimes sound the doors really are closing.

a few bumps and bruises (and a couple of heinously drunk boys) later we arrived at our first destination of the night - the science club. it's definitely a cool spot, but we were definitely hoping for some more sciencey paraphernalia. although the chalkboard and the random microscope were pretty cool.

two drinks and a birthday shot later we were out on 19th street heading towards porters. we were going for the company, but we ended up stumbling upon a great divey bar. and once we took over the basement we were good to go for the night. and the bartender down there was great (well pretty good if you count the fact that he's a terp) - he even let me come behind the bar and mix my own drink. and they had a beer called backdraft brown on tap - how can you go wrong with that??

and after reassuring susie that the metro runs until 3am on the weekends (not 2am) we managed to keep the dance party going for a little while longer. tragically we were all danced out by the time we got home because no one had any energy left for a black light dance party.

and now the week of eating begins. it's gonna be a great one!
