1. peal.
i really liked their song carousel junkie when i heard it on the most recent copy of earsnacks. and when i went to their website i noticed they stream their music (all bands should do this, by the way) and i really like it. i might just have to buy their cd.
2. julian velard.
i heard him live once and he wasn't any good. but, then i've been recently listening to his myspace and i really like the songs (especially joni). i'm hoping he was just having an off night when i saw him at the birchmere - i'm thinking i might have to give him another shot.
3. pat monahan.
you think the name sounds familiar? that's because he's the lead singer of train. and his first single, her eyes, is already on the radio. i just hope this doesn't mean train is kaput - their concert was one of the best i've ever been to.
4. kevin michael.
first of all - check out his fro. it's awesome. but really his music is pretty awesome too. his voice is great and his music is an infusion of many different styles. and having wyclef remix one of your songs can't hurt.
5. sara bareilles.
i first heard her song love song when it was an itunes free download a few weeks back. and now i'm hooked. and she's touring with jon mclaughlin (their hard piano styles are actually quite similar) and maroon5 in the coming months. although the closest to dc she's getting is the charlottesville show at jpj in october. what a dagger/backbreaker.
6. m.i.a.
wow. i think that she is going to be making some rotation in our black light dance parties. girlz (haha), what do you think?
7. muse.
yes, i realize i'm way late jumping on the muse bandwagon. but, in my defense i have entirely too much new music to keep up with. i've been slowly adding some muse into my daily rotation and i really like what i'm hearing. too bad i missed their concert last week - i heard it was pretty awesome.
8. brick & lace.
minus the stupid guy screaming in the background - i'm really digging their song love is wicked. (note: you can hear a full version here). plus do you see those abs? i think they belong in the smithsonian (haha).
9. paolo nutini.
i haven't decided yet if he sounds too much like james blunt to actually like him - but with a name like his i at least have to give his music a fair shot.
