potbelly's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies might be the best cookies ever. and for 99 cents they're quite the steal (especially compared to some of the bakeries around here). i've been obsessed with these cookies for quite a while. lucky/unlucky for me there wasn't a potbelly's in georgetown. but once i realized our new building downtown would be right across the street from potbelly's i knew it would be trouble.
so you can imagine my excitement when i learned that potbelly's makes ice cream sandwiches with their very own cookies! i mean, honestly what could be better? so this afternoon i rounded up some fellow ice cream lovers (that's three times this week!) and we headed across the street to try this supposed masterpiece. the guy took our order and went straight to work concocting these sandwiches. we paid up (only $2.50 each!) and headed back up to work to give them a try.
now i was expecting deliciousness, but i couldn't even prepare for how yummy these would be. you have the gooey, perfectly undercooked chocolate chip cookies (still warm, mind you) sandwiched around a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. it literally just melts in your mouth. the only thing i would do different is not eat it at my desk - i managed to get cookies/ice cream all over everywhere. but, i'm over it.
so skip the $5 ice cream cone and ben & jerry's or gifford's and next time you need a sweet fix head to potbelly's and get an ice cream sandwich. and if cookies aren't your thing then you can always get an oreo shake. they come in a close second to the cookie sandwiches.
happy cinco de mayo eve. party at our place tomorrow. we'll have a pinata filled with tequila. and that's only the half of it. be there or hear about it.
[note: i tried to google image a picture of a potbelly cookie. i couldn't find one. next time i'll bring my camera, i promise.]
